WHAT IS CRM?

Crew Resource Management (CRM) is a training approach developed by NASA for the aviation industry to improve teamwork, communication, and decision-making in high-pressure environments.

Aviation history shows that even the best pilots can face critical challenges, often not due to individual errors but because teamwork potential wasn’t fully utilized. CRM focuses on enabling teams to operate flexibly and support one another, even in demanding situations. By anticipating problems and leveraging resources like communication, leadership, and situational awareness, CRM enhances safety and efficiency.

Since becoming mandatory in aviation in the 1990s, CRM has proven its value in preparing teams to handle unexpected and complex scenarios.

This lecture explores why people make mistakes and how factors like organizational culture, team dynamics, and decision-making processes influence safety.

The focus is on shifting to learning how to create a more open culture, where mistakes used as tools for improvement.

"The CRM training organized for our company was excellently implemented and the planning took into account our pre-described needs, as well as the various tasks in our organization. It was nice to follow the expert training, and the humorous, concrete examples made the topic interesting and useful for people also other than the flight crew members as well. We will use Fennec Safety when planning future training for our staff."
